Drawing on my strengths
I can communicate an idea with a quick sketch, very handy when collaborating.
Turning a crisis into an opportunity
In China, it's illegal to use photography of humans in marketing. Every competitor was ignoring this law and using full-colour lifestyle photography. Not only were they breaking the law they all looked the same! Cochlear wanted their communications to be legal so we had to come up with an alternative, quickly.
They had no budget and no time. So I created a simple, hand-drawn, storybook style to appeal to the target market, parents of young children. The style stood out from Cochlear's competitors and cut through the 4 colour clutter on we-chat. I created a bank of 50+ illustrations with a guide on how to use them. This illustration style has been adopted more widely throughout Asia.

Helping school students become aware of Nanotechnology
Billi Nao was created to make it easy for teachers to teach nanotechnology to their Yr 7-10 students. We wanted to encourage the uptake of science at high school and hopefully nanotechnology at university. We provided a series of fun comic books for the kids and lesson plans for the teachers. The lesson plans were in line with the Australian School Curriculum. This received a small grant from Technyou, a government initiative set up to promote innovation in Australia.
On a personal note
I am always experimenting with something new, whether it's modelling a plasticine figure for a claymation, splashing acrylics on a canvas or filling sketchbooks with doodles.
